Leo XIV in Turkey: "All Brothers - Despite Different Religions"
Pope Leo XIV began today his first foreign trip, to Turkey and then Lebanon. During the flight to Ankara, he spoke about the importance of peace, adding that all men and women to truly be brothers and sisters: "Despite our differences, despite our different religions and beliefs, we are all brothers and sisters, and I hope to play a part in promoting peace and unity throughout the world."
Speaking to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the country’s diplomatic corps, Leo XIV praised Turkey’s historic role as a bridge between East and West, at the crossroads of religions and cultures.
He quoted his predecessor, Pope Francis, as saying that the wars ravaging the world today amount to a "third world war fought piecemeal". "We are now experiencing a phase marked by a heightened level of global conflict," he said. "We must not give in to this! The future of humanity is at stake."

“ Despite our differences, despite our different religions and beliefs, we are all brothers and sisters”.
There is no way to reconcile that with Islamic doctrine, or with the Koran. L14 is merely showing that he is - or his advisers are - ignorant of Islam. He and they have no right be so ignorant. He has no right to pontificate on matters he knows nothing of.
Mark 16:15-16
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
In discussion of God the Father Scott Hahn related a interaction he had with Muslims.
They did not agree that God is Father They objected to that language.
A day will come when Pope Leo XIV will learn that the biggest deniers of the claim that “we are all brothers” are the Muslims. Hopefully Pope Leo learns that before he faces Jesus Christ.
"Despite our differences, despite our different religions and beliefs, we are all brothers and sisters, and I hope to play a part in promoting peace and unity throughout the world."
@philosopher Exactly. The Muslims view these "gestures of brotherhood" as weakness & confirmation that the West will surrender.
It has already surrendered. The "post-conciliar papacy" is a mockery of everything that is holy. And apart from the Church - eclipsed for decades - what do you have in the West? Only liberal, impious anti-civilization.
He can say all the humanistic nice things, but the Islamists don't care, don't reciprocate, and will continue to attack the West.
