Trump Praises the Pope’s “MAGA Brother”: On 30 December, President Donald Trump hosted Louis Prevost, the brother of Pope Leo XIV, at a private gathering at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. Trump introduced Prevost and his wife, Deborah, to the guests. Trump expressed his admiration for the Pope's brother, recalling that when the new Pope was elected earlier this year, television coverage showed him outside his home surrounded by MAGA signs — a moment that Trump said made him "love this guy". A vocal Trump supporter, Louis Prevost has drawn attention for political posts that contrast with his brother’s positive views on immigration.

Netherlands Church Burned to the Ground on New Year’s Eve: The historic Vondelkerk Church in Amsterdam was severely damaged by a fire shortly after midnight on New Year’s Eve. The church was desecrated in 1977 and has not been used for Eucharistic services since then. The fire broke out in the early hours of 1 January. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is believed that youth gangs using fireworks were responsible for the fire. The church’s roof and tower collapsed, and the authorities confirmed that the building could not be saved. Nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution, and there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities. Built in the 19th century, the church was a protected historic landmark and cultural venue.

The Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of Leo XIV has dismissed Monsignor Marco Agostini, reports SilereNonPossum.com. The priest from Verona also celebrates Mass in the Roman Rite and has taken part in traditional pilgrimages. The decision was taken following the publication of a video in which Monsignor Agostini, referring to the Roman Curia and the College of Cardinals, used the term “culattoni” (a derogatory slur meaning “faggots”).

In his English homily (excerpted below), delivered at the Eucharist in memory of Pope Benedict XVI on the eve of the third anniversary of his death, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller praised the former pope for his theological legacy [and despite the fact that Ratzinger’s pontificate paved the way for Bergoglio's]. “As prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he set standards of the highest diligence, intellectual precision, and incorruptibility for the Roman Magisterium.” And: “During his pontificate, he was one of the greatest theologians on the Cathedra Petri.” And again: “He has left us an immense theological legacy of exceptional quality and was rightly recognized as one of the great Catholic intellectuals of our time.” For the Writer, Not the Reader When Cardinal Müller presented Pope Benedict XVI with the first volume of the Opera Omnia, he explained that the project would eventually comprise 16 volumes amounting to an estimated 25,000–30,000 pages. Catholic Oratory Inaugurated in Argentine Senate: The Argentine Senate inaugurated a Catholic oratory within its institutional headquarters, dedicated to Saint María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa, also known as “Mamá Antula.” The ceremony was presided over by Vice President and Senate President Victoria Villarruel and attended by civil and ecclesiastical authorities, including the Apostolic Nuncio to Argentina, Archbishop Mirosław Adamczyk, and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, Father Pedro Cannavó, along with senior Senate officials. Villarruel said the oratory — a space for prayer and reflection — will progressively incorporate Marian devotions from different Argentine provinces, such as Our Lady of Itatí, Our Lady of the Valley of Catamarca, and Our Lady of Luján, reflecting the federal character of the Senate. Victoria Villarruel attends Holy Masses at an FSSPX chapel in Buenos Aires.
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Fr Milton Zonta, S.D.S., as coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Criciúma in Brazil. Born on 2 June 1960 in Videira, Santa Catarina, he joined the Salvatorians and was ordained a priest on 17 January 1987. He lived in Rome for 18 years, including 12 years (2012–2024) as Superior General of the Salvatorians. After two consecutive terms, he returned to live in his home diocese of Videira, Brazil, in 2024. During public appearances, he usually wears civilian clothing. In his first message today following his appointment, Monsignor Zonta expressed his desire for a "synodal spirit". He voiced his support for "a welcoming and missionary Church" and "the paths of synodality". New Bishop Met Once with Cardinal Prevost Following the election of Pope Leo XIV, Fr Zonta described the moment as 'historic' and a sign of unity for the Church. He recalled meeting the future pope during his time as Prefect of the Congregation of Bishops, describing him as humble, welcoming and …More
Archbishop Georg Gänswein, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Baltic States, said that Russia had effectively delivered a slap in the face to Pope Leo XIV by rejecting the Vatican's offer of mediation in the war against Ukraine. In an interview with Herder Korrespondenz in January, Archbishop Gänswein revealed that shortly after his election in May, Pope Leo XIV had offered to mediate in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. While Ukraine accepted the proposal, Russia rejected it. "With that, the door to peace negotiations under Vatican mediation was, for the time being, closed — bluntly put, a slap in the face for the Pope and the Vatican," he said.Consequently, a papal visit to Ukraine currently appears hardly feasible, he added. Recent developments suggest that hopes for a ceasefire are fading: "The past weeks have clearly shown that the fighting has intensified. A ceasefire seems an increasingly distant prospect. There is an obvious lack of serious willingness for peace on the Russian …More
Why should Putin seek Leo's aid? The latter has clearly communicated he's in step with the E.U. and the N.W.O. What advantage would his role be as a mediator to Russia? At least Trump for all his faults & flip-flops is really trying to end the conflict by appealing to BOTH side with promises and toughness when he thinks that will work. In sum, Ganswein is succumbing to more "cult of celebrity" about the Pope seeing him as some "world[ly] leader', rather than urging Leo to actually do his job - DEFEND THE FAITH!!
I would like to see the link where Putin said that please. Is this hear say? Or is it a fact he said it. And if so, I understand why Putin said that. After talks with Trump, Zelsensky sent 91 drones to attack Putin's Official Resident. Sounds like the US gave more intel to Ukraine. And as one person put it. It's not time for any peace or rifts to be mended. It's all GOD'S Will. When The Consecration of Russia to The Immaculate Heart of Mary is done. Then there will be peace. Not until then. And talks are a waste as Zelensky obeys his masters who pay him well with tax payers money.
Secularism is the Canadian state religion: Quebec’s Secularism Minister, Jean-François Roberge, introduced Bill C-9, which aims to strengthen secularism in the province. He said during Advent: "We can wish someone merry Christmas. We can sing Christmas songs. This is nothing but tradition. But we shouldn’t make any references to the birth of baby Jesus." Talk of Santa Claus and elves is allowed. Religious symbols are banned for people working in education, daycare centres and universities.
In Lanciano, Italy, a Nativity scene in the Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio, home of the city’s school chaplaincy, shows baby Jesus lying among rubble and wrapped in a red keffiyeh. The display, symbolizing the war in Gaza, was created by 36-year-old priest Don Alessio Primante. The initiative follows a similar gesture in September, when he wore the same keffiyeh during a religious procession, a move allowed by the local bishop.
A village of 150 people in Corsica has raised €1.1 million to help restore the Caccia convent in Castifao, Haute-Corse. The 16 century site has been closed to the public since 2021 due to serious disrepair. The state's contribution was relatively small. The restoration will be funded by the Collectivité de Corse (80%), the French state (10%), and donations from residents, nearby communities, and private donors. Mayor François Orsini led the project with support from the Fondation du Patrimoine and the Castifau et Moltifau association. Restoration work is expected to begin in early 2026, with the aim of reopening the site to the public.

New York Archbishop Deletes Evidence of Homosexual Chancellor: Despite receiving dozens of emails and phone calls urging him to address the scandal involving his "married" homosexual chancellor in the Diocese of Joliet, newly appointed New York Archbishop Ronald Hicks remains silent. According to Complicit Clergy, Hicks even removed references from the diocesan website in an apparent effort to conceal the fact that David Salvato had ever worked for him.
Before He Went to Work for Bishop Hicks, Salvato Was Employed by Archbishop Gómez
Last week, we shared with you the story that David Salvato, the chancellor for the diocese of Joliet, ‘married’ his boyfriend on December 13. Bishop Hicks, the bishop of Joliet, has remained silent in spite of receiving dozens of emails and phone calls asking him to address this scandal. Hicks went as far as scrubbing the diocesan website to conceal that Salvato ever worked there. Now we learn that before he went to work for Hicks, Salvato worked as a canon lawyer for Archbishop Jose Gomez for 10 years. Salvato worked in the Metropolitan Tribunal were he oversaw the investigation of nearly 200 marriage annulment cases each year. Did you get that? Gómez assigned a homosexual man to make decisions about hundreds of marriage annulments in his archdiocese. How is someone who does not subscribe to the Catholic Church’s teaching on human anthropology make decisions about a sacramental marriage involving a man and a woman? A Catholic woman shared similar concerns in a comment on the Salvato …
Vatican Prelate Clarifies Tucho’s Confusion on Coredemptrix: Monsignor Maurizio Gronchi, a consultant for the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, told EWTN on December 20 that there is no absolute prohibition on the Marian titles “Co-Redemptrix” and “Mediatrix.” While these titles should no longer appear in official Church documents or liturgical texts, they may still be used within popular devotion. However, Tucho’s document had stated that the title “Co-Redemptrix” is “always inappropriate.” Addressing Catholics, Monsignor Gronchi reassured them: “They should not feel confused.”

The Diocese of Clifton in England has informed TheCatholicHerald.com that, starting from 2027, it will no longer include the Clifton Children’s Society (CCS), an adoption agency, in its official diocesan collections. This decision was made only following a backlash from Catholics. Online reports spread that the agency CCS was still being promoted in diocesan materials despite its support for homosex adoption. CCS is the former Catholic adoption agency of the diocese. It ceased to be Catholic after new state regulations came into force requiring adoption agencies to place children with same-sex couples. Bishop Bosco MacDonald of Clifton described the inclusion of CCS in the 2026 diocesan diary as an "oversight". He promised that it would not be repeated. He also claimed that CCS no longer has any formal relationship with the diocese beyond historical links. The bishop reaffirmed that diocesan trustees would ensure the agency's removal from future collections. #newsZejkbhvbvw
Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh, Ireland, lamented in an interview with TheTablet.co.uk on 28 December that the Vatican’s study group on female deacons had been “published in isolation” from those of the other nine synod study groups set up by Pope Francis. He would have preferred the report on women deacons to be published alongside those of the other groups examining co-responsibility and the role of lay people in the Church, as this would have provided a more balanced perspective, in his view. He added: “It’s interesting that Pope Leo XIV said this question remains open rather than saying it's over.” Archbishop Martin considers it "a really important question" of how women can fully exercise their baptismal priesthood. He considers his question “very, very pressing” because “those who have thought that the path to decision-making, leadership and service in the Church goes through the priesthood will now feel that women are excluded”. In Dublin, Women Are “Ministers of the …More

In an interview with the German weekly Die Tagespost on December 18, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa discussed the situation in the Holy Land. Key points: - Since the October ceasefire, active fighting has stopped, but living conditions remain unchanged. - In Bethlehem, things are somewhat different because of Christmas. We celebrated in a normal and festive way, with lights and music, so people could breathe again for a moment. - In Gaza and the West Bank, however, living conditions remain very difficult socially, economically, and politically. Ninety Percent of Christian Families Are Confessionally Mixed - Ecumenism is a pastoral, not a theological, issue. - We must continue on the path toward Christian unity, knowing that it is a long journey that cannot be rushed. - We need a common voice on global issues such as peace, justice, and human dignity. - Perhaps one day we will even share a common calendar, but we must take our time. - While some priests on both sides tend toward excessive …More
