On June 13, Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, accepted the title Akka Mahā Upāsaka Buddha Sāsanūpatthambhakr ("Elder Great Lay Supporter and Upholder of the Buddha's Dispensation") at the temple Wat Botum Vatey in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Catholic Church in the Central African Republic is mourning the loss of Father Crépin Martial Monga-Hadassi, 35, who was killed on June 29 while serving one of the country's most conflict-ridden regions.
