Pocházel ze skotské vznešené rodiny. R. 1593, sotva 14letý, odešel na studie do Evropy, v 17 letech konvertoval. Několik let strávil na Moravě, v Brně byl v noviciátě u jezuitů. Pak byl v Rakousku, odtud se vrátil do Olomouce, kde studoval teologii. Po dokončení studia odešel do Francie a po 22 letech v cizině se vrátil do vlasti pod nepravým jménem kapitána Watsona. Působil v Edinburghu a Glasgowě, kde byl udán jako katolický kněz, ve vězení přikován a po 5 měsíců mučen. Nikoho neprozradil. Nakonec byl oběšen.
