On August 27, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria called on the government and security agencies to step up efforts to combat killings and kidnappings following recent attacks in Benue and Niger states. Pezzati was president of the volunteer association Como Accoglie and was well known locally for her work assisting migrants and refugees.
