A village of 150 people in Corsica has raised €1.1 million to help restore the Caccia convent in Castifao, Haute-Corse. The 16 century site has been closed to the public since 2021 due to serious disrepair. The state's contribution was relatively small. The restoration will be funded by the Collectivité de Corse (80%), the French state (10%), and donations from residents, nearby communities, and private donors. Mayor François Orsini led the project with support from the Fondation du Patrimoine and the Castifau et Moltifau association. Restoration work is expected to begin in early 2026, with the aim of reopening the site to the public.

A total violation of human rights. "Collecting"? More like harvesting. To be slightly modified and then patented by some mega-corporate entity, no doubt. In all of these 'keep you safe' schemes, it is the prospective 'victims' being victimized under the lie of 'keeping you safe'.
Dec. 31 Saint Sylvester Pope. breski1December 31, 2009 Sylvester was pope from 31 January 314 to 31 December 335, succeeding Pope Miltiades. He filled the See of Rome at a very important era in the history of the Catholic Church, but very little is known of him.[3] The accounts of the papacy of Pope Sylvester I preserved in the Liber Pontificalis (7th or 8th century) are little else than a record of the gifts said to have been conferred on the Church by Emperor Constantine I,[4] but it does say that he was the son of a Roman named Rufinus.[5] During his pontificate were built the great churches founded at Rome by Constantine, e.g. the Basilica of St. John Lateran, Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, St. Peter's Basilica, and several cemeterial churches over the graves of martyrs.[5][6] Saint Sylvester did not himself attend the First Council of Nicaea in 325, but he was represented by two legates, Vitus and Vincentius, and he approved the council's decision. Part of the Symmachian forgeries, the …Zwiṅwe
New York Archbishop Deletes Evidence of Homosexual Chancellor: Despite receiving dozens of emails and phone calls urging him to address the scandal involving his "married" homosexual chancellor in the Diocese of Joliet, newly appointed New York Archbishop Ronald Hicks remains silent. According to Complicit Clergy, Hicks even removed references from the diocesan website in an apparent effort to conceal the fact that David Salvato had ever worked for him.
Before He Went to Work for Bishop Hicks, Salvato Was Employed by Archbishop Gómez
Last week, we shared with you the story that David Salvato, the chancellor for the diocese of Joliet, ‘married’ his boyfriend on December 13. Bishop Hicks, the bishop of Joliet, has remained silent in spite of receiving dozens of emails and phone calls asking him to address this scandal. Hicks went as far as scrubbing the diocesan website to conceal that Salvato ever worked there. Now we learn that before he went to work for Hicks, Salvato worked as a canon lawyer for Archbishop Jose Gomez for 10 years. Salvato worked in the Metropolitan Tribunal were he oversaw the investigation of nearly 200 marriage annulment cases each year. Did you get that? Gómez assigned a homosexual man to make decisions about hundreds of marriage annulments in his archdiocese. How is someone who does not subscribe to the Catholic Church’s teaching on human anthropology make decisions about a sacramental marriage involving a man and a woman? A Catholic woman shared similar concerns in a comment on the Salvato …

Prior immigrants from Italy, Poland, France, etc were from countries/cultures that understood Christendom (granted, often honored in the breach)

CV NEWS FEED // The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, on Jan. 1 marks a day of celebration for the Universal Church in honor of Jesus’ Blessed Mother, on the last day of the octave of Christmas. Christians celebrated this feast as early as the seventh century, although it was not formally added to the liturgical calendar until 1931 by Pope Pius XI. The Solemnity is a holy day of obligation, which means Catholics must attend Mass and observe the day as one of rest, avoiding unnecessary work. This Solemnity recognizing Mary’s divine maternity affirms a dogma central to the Christian understanding of the Incarnation: that Jesus is one Person, Who has both a divine nature and a human nature. This union of the two natures through Jesus’ Incarnation is called the hypostatic union. In the fourth century, a heretic named Nestorius had taught contrary to this. He claimed that the Blessed Virgin Mary was not God-bearer or the Mother of God — in Greek this title is Theotokos — but …Zwiṅwe
In his English homily (excerpted below), delivered at the Eucharist in memory of Pope Benedict XVI on the eve of the third anniversary of his death, Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller praised the former pope for his theological legacy [and despite the fact that Ratzinger’s pontificate paved the way for Bergoglio's]. “As prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he set standards of the highest diligence, intellectual precision, and incorruptibility for the Roman Magisterium.” And: “During his pontificate, he was one of the greatest theologians on the Cathedra Petri.” And again: “He has left us an immense theological legacy of exceptional quality and was rightly recognized as one of the great Catholic intellectuals of our time.” For the Writer, Not the Reader When Cardinal Müller presented Pope Benedict XVI with the first volume of the Opera Omnia, he explained that the project would eventually comprise 16 volumes amounting to an estimated 25,000–30,000 pages.
