I have a little bit of a different take on all of this. While I am thrilled that Catholics are coming out against this, we must remember that it is not ourselves that we defend. We defend only the honor of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. We are supposed to be happy when they hate us, when the world works against us and tries to persecute us because then we are following in the footsteps of The Lord. I don't like the signs "Stop Catholic Hate."Let them hate us. The more they hate us, the greater our glory will be if we love them in return and pray for their conversion. What we should be defending is only Our Lord and also protecting our families and our children from these horrors. We must fight against sin itself, but never, never defend ourselves when we are being persecuted. We must walk the Way of Jesus Christ.

I think we have to look deeper. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is The Innocent yet did not defend Himself. He allowed the evil to sweep over Him and entrusted Himself to The Father. He did not seek the justice of human courts for He Is Justice. This man pled guilty. If he was innocent, would be have pled guilty? Would a person innocent of a crime plead guilty so as to receive a lighter sentence? Maybe. But a priest? Hmmm ...... If he did, well we have a problem. If he is guilty and his plea is truthful,there is hope. I think we Catholics need to meditate on this. We spend too much time defending ourselves when we are guilty or innocent. Should we not follow Christ's example?
