De Profundis Thank you. I wish I could be fluent from Latin...Bruegel knew well what he was describing - pride of Lucifer and vanity/pride of many women.
Bruegel shows pride not as one act, but as a whole society infected by it.
The Latin text at the bottom roughly means:
“Pride loves herself above all and values nothing else.”
