Francis' January 5 general audience featured a circus performance. A group from the Rony Roller Circus in Rome performed on stage with a trombone and saxophone playing loudly “It’s now or Never.”
A teenage boy in a black mesh shirt performed with pink flames and rhinestones juggled batons while shaking his hips to techno music. A woman with a leotard took to the stage lying on her back while juggling soccer balls between her legs.
Francis smiled and applauded at the end of the ten-minute spectacle, “This was a performance that puts us in touch with beauty, and beauty lifts us up; and beauty is a way to go to the Lord,” he bubbled.
