Eating Blood
Sheeps, this is how deep our ignorance grows about our Faith, the Holy Spirit is talking to us through the Holy Apostles yet we disobey.
Why would Peter tell us to stay away from such things, specifically from blood?
Let us walk back to those days when the Apostles were in this world, they saw how pagans behaved and how hungry our Lord is to save them all, right before the first council ever, when circumcision and Judaic law was laid to rest, they knew that pagans loved orgies, had idols, behaved immorally and drank and ate blood.
When blood is mentioned, we are not talking about vampirism or cannibalism (both are an abomination), all of the mentioned above, was done even in daylight and in front of all... when pagans accepted Christ they no longer were pagans but Christians, even though, their strange behavior done by them for years was a problem.
Yes, staying away from Idols and their food offerings is a good thing because our Lord is Jealous about His Glory (Ex 34:14), sexual immorality will do enough to kill your soul...
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God..." 1 Thes 4:3-5
Note that word SANCTIFICATION, a call for all of us to become Saints... and in 1 Cor 6:18 when talking about sexual immorality talks about sinning against our own bodies, our bodies which are a Temple for the Holy Spirit.
The same can be applied when we are associated with blood, like how wrong is having sex with your spouse while she is in her period (Lev 15:19), eating or drinking blood from animals, but Christians are not well informed about this and most sin against the sanctity and honor of their bodies.
Having blood as a dish is against God's Holy Will, perhaps eating a blood sausage, a black soup, a pig's blood sundae and on and on, is not like murder, abortion, homosexuality, etc... but if we love our Lord we will do His commands and we, for a long have miserably failed by ignoring His Holy Word.
Czernina - Polonia, Blodplattar - Sweden and Finland, Morcilla (blood sausage) - Latin america and the world, Moronga - Mexico, Kaszanka - Poland, Boudin noir - France, Xue doufou - China, Ñachi - Chile, Soondae - Korea, Sangrecita - Peru, Dinuguan - Phillipines, Schwarzenauer - Alemania, Spartan black soup - Greece are a few examples of food based in blood.
Perhaps you who are reading my words disagree, but I want and I know you want, to become a Saint and above of all I want to love my Lord in all His commandments... Jesus knows how dumb I am, how un-capable for me to save myself by my own, He and only He can save us and if this tiny thing: avoiding such foods, I could do in order to Honor Him and pray that soon He makes us Saints, that tiny thing we could do.
My only hope is that we all get to Heaven soon, that we, here on Earth reach sanctity through loving Him and if we Love Him we will do His commandments.
