The Revolution of Compassion
Liturgy of June 14, 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear brothers and sisters, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which we celebrate on June 12 and 13, help us better understand the passage from the Gospel of Matthew that we hear on Sunday, June 14.
"At that time," Matthew tells us, "Jesus, seeing the crowds, had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd."
Jesus' compassion is the antidote to the culture of indifference that afflicts the world. Mary's compassion is the same compassion of Jesus
In fact, from the Heart of the Divine Risen One, ablaze with Love, the power of the Holy Spirit was "triggered" like a "chain reaction," initiating that process of transformation of the entire universe, which finds its crowning glory in the Church and its perfect Icon in Mary.
