Serbia can play a unique role in Europe, promoting dialogue between the East and West, between Christians and with Islam. Benedict XVI stated this today as he received the new ambassador to the Holy See, Vladeta Jankovic. In the interview and discussion regarding the current political situation, the Holy See expressed its desire that the Balkan region live as a sign of peace and stability. Concerning Kosovo in particular, Benedict XVI asked that all parties involved will act with prudence and moderation, seeking solutions marked by mutual respect and reconciliation.
