Rejection of the Catholic Church by Maria Divine Mercy

The messages of Maria Divine Mercy, under the title “The Warning Second Coming” (www.thewarningsecondcoming.com), are now openly attacking the Catholic Church. Past messages made vicious verbal attacks on Pope Francis, calling him “imposter” and “the beast” and “the false prophet”, and claiming he is associated with the Antichrist. Those messages asked the followers of the alleged visionary Maria Divine Mercy (Mary McGovern, aka Mary Carberry) to reject Pope Francis, and many have done so. Now the messages are telling these followers to reject the Catholic Church as a whole.

As I explained previously, any Catholic who rejects Pope Francis commits the mortal sin of schism and is automatically excommunicated. And it should be clear that any Catholic who rejects the Catholic Church as a whole — as the messages of MDM are asking them to do — also commits the mortal sin of schism.

Here are some excerpts from recent messages to MDM that reject the Catholic Church as a whole:

“The Catholic Church will make a number of alarming statements, as to why it has to change and amend every part of its structure.”
“the Catholic Church will become a leading force in the new one world religion.” (message of 1 Nov 2013)

“My Catholic Church on earth will be sucked into a one world church, in the name of unification.” (message of 16 May 2012)

“My Son’s Church will become the seat of the antichrist…. My Son’s Church will be persecuted, destroyed, desecrated — until eventually, it will house the throne upon which will sit the antichrist.” (message of 29 Oct 2013)

“Within six months of the heresy being introduced into My Church, many who ignored My Call, will flee and seek out those who remained true to My Holy Word. Then My Army will swell, grow and gather the remnants from all Christian churches and fight the spirit of evil.” (message of 20 Oct 2013)

On the one hand, the messages warn against a unification of Christians in the one Catholic Church, the unification that Jesus prayed for: “So may they all be one. Just as you, Father, are in me, and I am in you, so also may they be one in us” (John 17:21). If any Pope attempts to bring separated Christian groups (Orthodox, Protestants) back to the one true Faith, the messages of MDM condemn the very effort.

On the other hand, these same messages claim to unite persons from “all Christian churches” under one visionary (MDM) and one set of claimed private revelations. So if the Pope and the Catholic Church attempt and eventually succeed in brining separated Christians (like the prodigal son) back to the one Catholic Christian Family and the sole Ark of Salvation, these messages would condemn the true Church as an evil “one world religion”. But these same message attempt to do the same thing, to unite persons from all Christian churches.

There are many messages from MDM attacking the Pope and the Church. These messages claim that the Pope and the Church Herself will introduce heresies, and that the whole Church will go astray. The messages portray the Catholic Church as being on the verge of becoming evil, and of being taken over by the Antichrist. In fact, the messages already claim that the Church has been taken over, supposedly, by an evil false prophet, Pope Francis.

These claims that the Church has become or is about to become evil, or that the Church is led by, or is about to be led by, a false prophet or the Antichrist are directly contrary to the teaching of Jesus Christ in the Gospels on the indefectibility of the Church. This indefectibility was taught by Pope John Paul II and by Pope Benedict XVI and by past Popes and Councils. Any Catholic who believes that the Church has ever, or will ever, teach heresy, or become evil, or be ruled by a false prophet or the Antichrist — or any similar claim — thereby commits the mortal sins of heresy and schism, and suffers the penalty of automatic excommunication.

The followers of Maria Divine Mercy and her alleged messages are not Catholic Christians, for the openly reject the Pope and the Catholic Church. They are not Orthodox Christians. They do not even qualify as a Protestant denomination. For they have rejected every aspect of the Christian Faith, except the false prophetess, who calls herself Maria Divine Mercy, and her messages. These messages are compiled in a set of books called “the Book of Truth,” and they are said to be the equal of the Bible. But the messages treat this Book of Truth as if it were a replacement for the Bible. Therefore, I do not consider the followers of MDM and her messages to be Christians at all.

A woman tries to remain anonymous. She claims to receive messages from Heaven. She claims to be the “seventh angel” mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Then she and her messages tell you the Pope is an evil false prophet, and the Cardinals who elected him are evil, and the Church is about to teach heresies and be taken over by evil, and the Antichrist will rule over the Church. Why do you believe her? Is it because you already secretly hated the Church for teaching your own deeds are sinful? Is it because you prefer conspiracy theories and sensationalism over the true Catholic Christian Gospel of love of God and neighbor? Or are you merely so foolish that you believe anyone who claims to have messages from Heaven?

The messages of MDM are most likely from fallen angels, who are seeking to tear away weak and sinful persons from union with the Pope and the Bishops and the Catholic Church as a whole. These messages seek to cause Catholics to distrust the Catholic Church and the Pope, and as a consequence to adhere more firmly to this claimed visionary and her messages. The goal is to cause Catholics to reject the Catholic Faith, and to accept the visionary and her messages in place of the Pope and the teachings of the Church.

The true teachings of the Catholic Faith are profound, full of mysteries that are beyond complete comprehension by the fallen sinner. The teachings of the Catholic Faith are numerous and complex, addressing very many questions on faith, morals, and salvation. Most members of the Church are poorly catechized. And so they are easy prey for a visionary who offers a vastly over-simplified imitation of the Christian religion that rejects any teachings of the Pope or the Roman Catholic Magisterium that might be difficult to understand, or that might not be in accord with the assumptions and misunderstandings of a poorly catechized laity.

Jesus warned you about false prophets, like the many false visionaries of today. Why do you not listen to Him?

[Matthew]
{7:15} Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
{7:16} You shall know them by their fruits. Can grapes be gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles?

Jesus taught you to trust in the Pope and the Church, because each Pope is a true Successor to Saint Peter, and because the Church cannot be overcome by evil. Why do you not believe Him?

{16:18} And I say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
{16:19} And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound, even in heaven. And whatever you shall release on earth shall be released, even in heaven.”

The Pope can never teach heresy, nor can he ever fall into the sins of apostasy or heresy or schism — for whatever he binds or loosens is bound or loosened even in Heaven. And the grace of God, by the promise of Jesus Christ, protect the Pope and the Church from going astray. The Church is indefectible. She can never go astray, nor lead anyone away from the path of salvation. Neither can the Church, led by the Pope, ever be taken over by evil.

[Galatians]
{1:6} I wonder that you have been so quickly transferred, from him who called you into the grace of Christ, over to another gospel.
{1:7} For there is no other, except that there are some persons who disturb you and who want to overturn the Gospel of Christ.
{1:8} But if anyone, even we ourselves or an Angel from Heaven, were to preach to you a gospel other than the one that we have preached to you, let him be anathema.
{1:9} Just as we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone has preached a gospel to you, other than that which you have received, let him be anathema.

{3:1} O senseless Galatians, who has so fascinated you that you would not obey the truth, even though Jesus Christ has been presented before your eyes, crucified among you?
