Episcopalian Ordination Re-Scheduled

Alaska

The ordination of Mark Andrew Lattime, a new Episcopalian bishop in Alaska, had originally been scheduled to take place on September 4 in a Catholic parish church in Anchorage. But now it has been re-scheduled for a nearby Methodist church—apparently in response to protests from concerned Catholics. Lattime will be ordained at the First United Methodist Church in Anchorage. Katharine Jefferts Schori, the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church will lead the ceremony. In announcing the new location, the Episcopal diocese said: We have been advised that the Lady of Guadalupe Church is no longer available for use for the consecration of our VIII Bishop. Despite this development we celebrate our partnership with the Catholic Church and look forward to nurturing our ecumenical ministries.

Netherlands: More Assisted Suicide

Netherlands

The Dutch government announced that the number of reported cases of euthanasia or assisted suicide rose 13 percent in 2009, lifenews.com reports. Physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia are allowed by Dutch law. They now account for 2% of all deaths records in the country. The news sparked a further concern with talk of creating a euthanasia "hospital" to facilitate more deaths.

No Mass During the Youth Olympic Games

Singapore

The Catholic Church of Singapore has planned a warm welcome for Catholic athletes competing in the world’s first Youth Olympic Games (YOG). However, religious services will not be offered in the Olympic village, the Games’ organising committee said. Participants may use prayer rooms in the village’s Multi-Faith Centre, but have to travel outside for services such as Mass or other religious functions.

Prepare Yourself in Time

Internet

The Blog Acts of the Apostasy has published an interesting quote from St Philip Neri:

“They who have been exercised in the service of God for a long time, may in their prayers imagine all sorts of insults offered to them, such as blows, wounds, and the like, and so in order to imitate Christ by their charity, may accustom their hearts beforehand to forgive real injuries when they come.”

The Episcopal Church of American in an effort to be inclusive is simply disentegrating. I remember reading about a decade ago that a psychiatrist in the Nederland's prescriped a lethal dose of medicine because she was suffering to much emotionally. I have also heard that people are being euthanized without the consent of the patients or their families. It is a new dark ages.
