Saint Therese the Little Flower and the Conversion of Anglicans
In 2009, the chest with relics of the Carmelite saint went on pilgrimage in England and received an extraordinary welcome. Thousands of Anglicans in a process of conversion have been seen among the pilgrims and devotees. Large Anglican communities, - above all English - are readying to join the Catholic Church. The English media figure that as many as six million might return to Catholicism. According to the Prefect for the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, those include 30 to 50 “bishops” and 1,000 “priests”... They are upset with the designation of women and homosexuals as “priests,” “bishops” and oppose the rupture with tradition. Something completely unexpected happened a short while after the pilgrimage. H.H. Benedict XVI published the Apostolic Constitution “Anglicanorum coetibus,” opening the gates to their conversions en masse. While there had been talk about the case for a long time, the speed of the outcome surprised everyone. Is there a relationship between the graces spread with the pilgrimage of the relics of the Saint from Lisieux and the return of countless Anglicans to the Catholic faith? Did the Little Flower send down her rain of roses upon England as well? An interesting case in this regard is that of the Catholic priest, Fr. Davis, a former Anglican. Today he ministers a priest in the USA. Fr. Davis is the parish priest of St. Therese the Little Flower church in Kansas City. He learned about the pilgrimage through various sources. In his sermon, he said he believed the large numbers of Anglicans appearing before her relics was due to an action of that saint, touching souls. Fr. Davis emphasized that it was his personal opinion, but one held deep in his heart. News of his sermon reached the ordinary of the Traditionalist Anglican Communion of Canada, Peter Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson then wrote Fr. Davis, confirming that St. Theresa of the Child Jesus has indeed worked to bring about these conversions. As a proof, the Canadian “bishop” recounted that he went to Rome with “bishop” Robert Mercer, to deal with the delicate passage into the Catholic Church. Their group comprises about 400,000 souls living in over 40 countries on all continents. On their trip to Rome to decide on joining the Catholic Church, the two “bishops” took indirect relics of the Saint from Lisieux. They are certain that St. Therese the Little Flower has been helping their return to the paternal home, the Rome of the Popes. For Wilkinson, it is a fact that St. Therese has been playing a role in the events that are bringing Anglicans back to the Church. May Saint Therese of the Infant Jesus intercede with Our Lady that these Anglicans may convert! Saint Therese, intercede for the conversion of England! Saint Therese, pray for us all!
