Call him 'The God Father': Husband and dad will become Roman Catholic priest -- and take vow of celibacy
John Cornelius, who is married, will be ordained this weekend -- and sex-free life begins
John Cornelius will be ordained a Roman Catholic priest this weekend — and with the blessing of his wife they're giving up their sex life. Cornelius, a father of three, will become the first married Roman Catholic priest in New York — and Sharyl, his wife of 33-years, has agreed to the whole celibacy thing.
“We have decided to do that voluntarily,” Cornelius told WGRZ-TV. “I have always had friends that are Roman Catholic priests and I appreciate what they've given up to serve God and the priesthood.”
Cornelius, 64, is a former Episcopalian priest who converted three years ago to Catholicism. He said his old church had gotten too liberal for him. …More

I hope you say the same thing to all the heretic novus ordo clergy and religious out there too, ...you know the ones who have lost the faith and draw all there abusive behavior from the "spirit" of Vat II! 🧐

How about humble and faithful submission and obedience to the Roman Pontiff? You can't lump all norvus ordo Catholics into one class as all being liberal. There are many, many faithful Catholics who have never been introduced to Latin, but they are still as Catholic as any SSPX and more so than any SSPV. It's time for the division to cease and for all Catholics to humbly submit to the Pope. This …More

There are many, many faithful Catholics who have never been introduced to Latin, but they are still as Catholic as any SSPX and more so than any SSPV. It's time for the division to cease and for all Catholics to humbly submit to the Pope. This means SSPXs returning to the Church apologetically and humbly not with fanfare of some sort of victory.

How about the lavender mafia, the homosexual novus ordo priests, the anti-Latin Mass modernists who think they posses exclusive claim to the Church? I'd be more concerned about them.

tbswv--That's the problem with all the SSPVs and SSPXs--they seem to have this sense that they have some possession or exclusive claim to the Church. So what? If a protestant see that Catholicism is right, they have to have your permission to enter the Church? SSPX need to return to Holy Mother Church in Her time of need.

He said his old church had gotten too liberal for him.
Why not just invite every Protestant denomination into the Catholic Church and dilute it even more. Martin Luther would love it. Thanks Benedict-Ratzinger!

Gee, maybe one of his daughters/son will be an altar server for him.

Ridiculous...agree with the News-Briefs Comment. . .just another push for married priests. And his "many priest friends"... well, sure they're all for it too, because they're novus ordo modernists.

Too much information. Why must he go public with his mortification? Subduing the flesh is a noble undertaking but is it not better to suffer in silence rather than announce it to the world seeking who knows what?

16 And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee.

Low T. At 64 he probably doesn't have the same "drive" that he had when he was 25 anyway. How difficult would it be for him?

However, judging from the looks of him, it would have been a much greater sacrifice to cut back on the second helpings of mashed potatoes and eliminating the Tiramisu desserts.
