Ancient Document Sheds New Light on Magi Story
An ancient document found in the Vatican archives casts new light on the story of the Nativity and the Three Wise Men who came to offer gifts to the infant Jesus, according to researchers, reports the Times, in an article published in the Australian.
The Revelation of the Magi, reputedly a first-hand account of their journey to pay tribute to the son of God, only now has been translated from ancient Syriac.
Brent Landau, professor of religious studies at the University of Oklahoma, spent two years deciphering the fragile manuscript.
It is an eighth-century copy of a story first written down nearly half a millennium earlier, less than 100 years after the Gospel of Matthew, the original source of the Bible story.
The newly translated tale differs in major respects from Matthew's very brief account.
The Magi of the Bible have long been associated with Persian mystics, but those in The Revelation are from much farther afield - from the semi-…More

One should not be assigning too much credibility to any stories that originate in New Zealand - enough to think of the blasphemous Christmas posters at st-mark-in-the city. Just few minutes before on Cm I had to resolve to draw on help of early Church Father's for support and to undo the damage inflicted by New Zealander Catholic who was promoting the ideas of the one who "was sent after the New Testament" - as Jesus justly had warned us :" I come from My Father,My Father had sent Me,but ye do not believe in Me;another shall come,NOT SENT BY THE FATHER,him ye will believe!" For those busying themselves ,searching for traces of truths, who forgot that in Christ, the Truth Itself we have the fullness of Truth revealed and we to whom the Word of God came have the dignity of called to be co-heirs with Jesus in His Father's Kingdom and having the authority of The Living Word we are to be busying ourselves with sharing Him with others ,not giving into their confusion.

When I was a child the story was told about Three Wisemen/Magi from the East, one of them being Persian, others from China - consider the 5 thousand years of Chinese aastronomy/astrology and the fact that the mighty of the day always had checked the favorite alignment of planets on the day of birth of their opffspring.Souls of the righteous ones are like shining stars on the firmament, for they cary in themselves the light of the wisdom of Christ's Word, having believed on Him and held on to His Word they attained the unity with the Holy Trinity,One God dwelling in them, whose Temple they were called to be the moment of conception, the point when each human being receives the spark of life- spirit of the Living God,Who by the power of the Holy Spirit through His Living Word created all things,Who predestined Him to be conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit overshadowing Virgin Mary;the Only Begotten of the Father being born in flesh for our salvation perdestined to suffer as a Son of Man and be crucified as perfect Sacrifice as pleasing to God the Father as the once the offering of Abel.Emmerich was shown the vision of Christ being born as a Light coming forth from the Virgin's womb.Divine Mercy Sunday 1999,when I greeted Christ in a soul of visiting priest exiting the Polish parish, expressing in my heart the sorrow over the fact that coming late and standing under the choir far off to the right ,my grandaughter little Monika Marie will miss out on the blessing he was imparting to all the children in the pews as he was shaking hands with parishioners - the priest heading for the exit turned abruptly, and as he walked towards us,I felt live Spirit enter my body ( ever walked into a glass wall ? - the spiritual wall walked into me) and Abp Jozef Zycinski looked at me,bowed his head in greeting and blessed little Monika Marie.Later ,at the parish hall he was pale and prerspiring with cold sweat, for the power that entered me has left him. Two weeks later I picked up ( an Oxford review?) at my local parish ,opened it at random and my eyes fell on Acts of Apostles : St Paul felt as the power had left him, inquired outloud, who touched him to send that person out of the multitude gathered around him to go and preach the gospel. Day after the Thanksgiving a fellow Catholic traveled 800 miles round trip driving from NC just to meet me in person and when he got hold of my hand I felt energy flowing like stream of golden light through my hand.He must have experienced what Zycinski did for he was too distraught to talk to me after returning to his city-for a medical doctor, neoroscientist the unexplainable ( he kept questioning me ,exploring possibility of neurons connecting in my brain as an explaination of what was happening to me spiritually),yet physical manifestation was too much to bear ! Silent prayer, prayer of the heart was commonly practiced among early Christians and is the only way of communicating in the afterlife - it leads to personal, intimate relationship with God ... and was forbidden by those who neithr enter themselves ,nor allow others to enter in that intimate union with Christ. Note how distracting ,even the sound of one's own voice is ,compared to pondering over the meaning of every single word spoken in our heart, contemplation bringing us to close union with Christ.
